As Manchester United wrapped up the signing of Ander Herrera and pressed ahead with a deal for Luke Shaw... Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was on a beach.
Firstly the Frenchman's beach football volleyball skills have to be admired, showing a deft touch that allowed him to be a professional footballer earlier in his career.
But the lack of transfer secured by the Gunners, precisely none to date, had a section of supporters feeling anxious about their prospects for last season.
Pictures of Wenger enjoying his free time certainly caused a mini-stir on social media, with frustrated supporters feeling he should be focusing on securing transfers instead.
This is all a little unfair on the Premier League's boss, who while in Brazil is claimed to have met with the agents of potential transfer targets, while he is out there commentating for French television.
Everybody needs free time, and if Wenger chooses to spend his on a beach, fair play to him.
Football is a results business however and that correlates to the transfer market. With Arsenal yet to secure their first signing of the summer and United, Liverpool and Chelsea already having brought at least one player in each, the pressure will continue to build on Wenger whatever he does, until the Gunners make their move.

Can't judge wenger now for playing on a beach ! BUT if the transfer window closes without what we need and a fruitless season we know 1-2— Garryjgc (@Garryjgc2) June 27, 2014
If you think Wenger should be sitting by himself cold-calling other clubs about transfers all summer, you're naïve.— Keith (@FilthySpecs) June 26, 2014
Mr. Wenger, stop mucking about at the beach and start discussing transfers! This is costing us!— Akhyaar Amer (@ElCommandero) June 26, 2014
