Liverpool 'in Shaqiri talks'
Liverpool are in talks with Bayern Munich regarding signing Swiss World Cup hero Xherdan Shaqiri. The midfielder scored a hat-trick this week against Honduras to seal his nation's progress to the second round of the World Cup. Goal claim the Reds are ready to offer £15 million for the 22-year-old. The Metro write Liverpool are to offer the 2012/13 Champions League winner wages of £95,000 per week in order to tempt him to sign. He would cost at least £10 million less than alternative, Adam Lallana of Southampton, and the paper claim the winger is keen to sign.
Herrera signs at United, Shaw to follow?
Manchester United have clinched the signing of Ander Herrera (right) as confirmed by the club's official website. Earlier in the day Athletic Bilbao announced they had turned down an offer from the Red Devils, but it was ironed out within hours. Herrera had to pay out the remainder of his contract to seal the transfer, which sees him sign a four-year deal with an option to extend to a fifth.
Another star could be set to follow imminently, with Luke Shaw said to be heading to United for a medical, report a variety of sources, while SkySports report a £30 million transfer fee has been accepted by Southampton. The left-back has returned from England duty after the Three Lions were eliminated from the World Cup and is likely to seal his transfer ahead of July.
QPR want Caulker
QPR want to complement new signing Rio Ferdinand with Cardiff City's Steven Caulker, report The Mail. Caulker was impressive last season despite the Bluebirds failing to beat the drop and has been capped by England. He also has a relegation release clause in his contract following his sale from Tottenham last summer. He is a player who manager Harry Redknapp is well aware of, having sent him out on loan to Swansea during his time at Spurs.
