Jan Vertonghen has had positive words to say regarding his new manager.
New Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is only just bedding in at White Hart Lane, but he is wasting no time in getting started.
The Argentine is busy making plans, and has already been in touch with the club's top stars - even those on the other side of the globe at the World Cup.
Defender Jan Vertonghen, currently performing with Belgium, has revealed that Pochettino has made contact with him and wished him luck.
He said: "I take this opportunity to thank him for the phone call that he made to me, saying to focus solely on the World Cup at the moment."
Pochettino was speaking to reporters who quizzed him regarding the appointment of the former Saints boss.
He added: "I was very impressed by Southampton in the last two years, from their style of play and the manager. I think it's a great appointment for Tottenham."
It would be difficult to imagine Vertonghen saying anything different at this point, but his views on Pochettino are aligned with nearly every observer who watched Southampton play under him over the past 18 months.
This should start with him being deployed in his favoured central defensive role, and if that did not come up in his first conversation with Pochettino, you can bet it will during his second.
