All the latest summer transfer news from La Liga...

Reports today suggested that Atletico Madrid had made a £15m bid for Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo, but the Premier League side had rejected it. However, whilst City may have thought that rejecting the bid would deter the La Liga champions from pursuing Negredo, it appears that Diego Simeone's men are still intent on landing the former Sevilla star.

However, according to Marca, Negredo is intent on a return to Spain - and with Diego Costa set to sign for Chelsea, Atletico will have money to spend in order to find a new striker. Simeone wanted Negredo last summer when the club sold Falcao to Monaco, so this deal is far from over.

Sevilla, the club who sold Negredo last summer, have had to sell a number of players over the last 12 months, and most recently they let star midfielder Ivan Rakitic depart as the Croatian international joined Barcelona. Yet now, they could appease the fans with a stunning coup.

French international Mathieu Valbuena has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Chelsea in recent times, but there is strong speculation today that Sevilla will swoop for the Marseille man in a cut-price €5m deal. The 29-year-old has impressed at the World Cup, so it's surprising that there hasn't been more interest in him.

Another deal that could go through in Spain is involving Barcelona midfielder Jonathan dos Santos. The Mexican has been a bit part player at the Camp Nou for some time, which meant he missed out on a place in the Mexico squad for this summer's World Cup.

It now seems that the 24-year-old knows he needs to play regular first-team football, and speculation today has linked him with a move to Villarreal - where he would join forces with his brother and fellow ex-Barca player Giovani dos Santos.
