Liverpool transfer news, Barcelona retain interest in Suarez, Reds move for World Cup star

A selection of the latest transfer news and more involving Liverpool Football Club this Thursday morning.

Luis Suarez is still attracting the interest of Barcelona despite his latest biting controversy according to the Daily Mirror.

It had been said only yesterday that Barcelona were distancing themselves from any rumours linking them with a big money move for the Liverpool star but the report this morning suggests otherwise.

Barca could use Alexis Sanchez as part of the deal, with Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers said to be interested in the Chile star whilst there is also the possibility of Pedro being part of a deal.

The hearing into Suarez's alleged bite on Giorgio Chiellini will continue today after a hearing that went on late into the night in Brazil, and the FIFA committee has yet to reach a verdict - but it is expected well ahead of Uruguay's clash with Colombia at the weekend.

Away from Suarez, Liverpool have moved into pole position to sign young Belgian striker Divock Origi, with Tottenham and Arsenal also said to be interested in the Lille forward.

The report initially appeared in The Times last night and has been picked up by other newspapers, since.

Liverpool have reportedly offered £6 million for the 19-year-old and will loan him back to Lille for another season to continue his development.

The striker has appeared from the bench twice during this World Cup, and scored the winner against Russia to take them through to the second round.

Finally, the Daily Mirror reported yesterday afternoon that Tottenham will try and hijack Liverpool's move for Southampton defender Dejan Lovren.

Spurs Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino previously worked with the Croatian centre-back at Southampton, but Liverpool remain favourites to sign him according to the report, as the Reds can offer Champions League football next season.
