Dion Waiters casts doubt on his, Kyrie Irving’s future with Cleveland Cavaliers

All options are reportedly open at Cleveland heading into the next fortnight.

Dion Waiters, second year shooting guard for the Cavaliers, is worried that he or star teammate Kyrie Irving could be traded in the near future.

Dion Waiters has been involved in trade chatter of late. There has been constant noise throughout Waiters career’ about his difficulty getting along with Kyrie Irving.

Also, there was recently a discussed trade between Cleveland and Orlando, proposing Cleveland give up the number one pick in the draft for Orlando’s number four pick, number twelve pick and Arron Afflalo. Afflalo is a shooting guard, the same position as Dion Waiters, and Afflalo is arguably more valuable. Afflalo is a talented scorer and he is big enough to guard small forwards.

The writing has been on the wall for Dion and he is clever enough to know it.

Kyrie on the other hand is a different story.

Kyrie is one of the hottest young players in the league despite questions over the point guards’ playmaking abilities, and it is widely expected that the Cavs will offer him a maximum contract extension.

The only reason the Cavs would want to trade him is if he has made it clear he will not sign the extension. His current contract ends after next season and there were some rumblings from the Irving camp that he is not sold on Cleveland going forward, though he has dismissed all such suggestions.

In this scenario the Cavs would be better off offloading him now and getting back quality assets. After all, we all know what happened the last time they let a superstar player enter free agency in 2010.
