Manchester United transfer news: Herrera latest, Shaw set-back, Dutch star rumours resurface

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Manchester United are not prepared to pay over the odds for Southampton defender Luke Shaw according to reports.

The Manchester Evening News claims that while United submitted an earlier bid of £25million, reports of an improved offer of £34million are untrue…and that suggestions Louis van Gaal’s side could go as high as £40million are considerably wide of the mark.

It is believed that while United want the England international, they will not be pushed too high for a player who is still a teenager.

In other news, the Ander Herrera stories continue, with Spanish newspaper El Correro claiming the midfielder has told teammates he will be a United player next season.

Reports yesterday afternoon claimed Herrera had completed a medical in Spain ahead of a proposed €36million move to Old Trafford.

While previous reports had suggested Herrera would sign a four-year deal at the club, AS claims Herrera has actually agreed a deal until 2019, but an official announcement from the Premier League side has yet to be made.

And finally, a number of newspapers – including the Daily Star – have picked up on an interview Bryan Roy gave to Talk Sport on Tuesday, in which he claimed van Gaal was desperate to bring Arjen Robben to United.

That interview has seen the Dutch winger thrown headfirst back into the rumour mill, despite the Holland international previously stating he is happy at Bayern Munich.
