Manchester City have no intention of selling Alvaro Negredo this summer according to Press Association Sport.

ITV has picked up on the claim following suggestions the Spaniard could be set for a swift return to La Liga, with Atletico Madrid reportedly interested.

The Daily Mail was just one of the newspapers to report that story early this morning, but it now appears Manuel Pellegrini has no intention of parting with the former Sevilla striker just yet.

ITV add that City have not received a bid or had any form of contact with Atletico about a possible move.

That will be good news for City fans, who would surely be loath to lose a player who began last season in spectacular fashion and, despite a dip in form, ended the campaign with 23 goals and eight assists.

In other news, the Daily Star has picked up on reports claiming City are readying a £24million move for Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez.

If he does arrive – and it is a big if – it does pose the question as to how Pellegrini will accommodate so many goal-scorers. But it will be a wonderful problem for the manager to have.

Sanchez has shone for Chile at the World Cup and looks every inch a star.

He has long been linked with a possible move to the Premier League, and for the fee being reported he would prove a bargain; which is exactly why Barca are unlikely to say yes, or would they?
