La Liga latest: Barca add Bravo as Sevilla eye Manchester United target

All the latest summer transfer rumours from La Liga...

Barcelona swooped to sign German international Marc-Andre Ter Stegen from Borussia Monchengladbach earlier this summer, but the Catalan giants clearly felt that he needed some experienced competition behind him after the departures of Victor Valdes and Pinto. Today, they completed a €12m move to sign Real Sociedad stopper Claudio Bravo.

The 31-year-old has spent the last eight seasons with the San Sebastian outfit, but having impressed both with his club and at the World Cup with Chile, Barcelona moved to bring him to the Camp Nou once the World Cup has finished.

One of the players most recently tipped to leave La Liga has been Atletico Madrid centre back Diego Godin. The Uruguayan has been a rock in the heart of the Atleti defence, but had been linked with a move to Premier League giants Chelsea, who seem to be interested in a whole host of Atletico stars.

Yet manager Diego Simeone says that Godin is one of the most important players at the club and wouldn't want to lose the former Villarreal man.

"Godin is one of the most important players at the club. I would never let him go," Simeone said. "He has improved a lot in all possible aspects. He is a leader and I wish him well as a person and hope he wants to play with us in future."

Meanwhile, Europa League winners Sevilla are looking to strengthen their squad with the money raised from the sale of star midfielder Ivan Rakitic. One of the newest names linked with a move to Andalusia is Celtic's Dutch centre back Virgil van Dijk, who has also been suggested as a possible target for Manchester United. The 22-year-old would reportedly cost around €6m having impressed in his first season in Scotland.
