Reported Manchester United target Bruno Martins Indi may be set for a five-year deal at FC Porto according to reports.
Portuguese newspaper O Jogo claims to have spoken to a senior official at the player’s current club Feyenoord, who allegedly revealed that there have been developments in the move for the 22-year-old.
Soon after Louis van Gaal was announced as the next United manager, a whole host of Dutch players were linked with a move to Old Trafford. But the stories connecting Martins Indi with a potential switch made more sense than most.
After all, United need defensive reinforcements this summer, following the departures of Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand and Alex Buttner. And in Martins Indi, they would have been signing a player who is equally adept in the centre of defence and as a left-back.
But it now appears FC Porto could get a player van Gaal clearly admires, having opted to pick him for Holland at this summer’s World Cup.
The player made 32 appearances for Feyenoord last season, scoring three goals and providing one assist in that time.
And while the latest rumours are merely that, if Porto do lose Eliaquim Mangala this summer as has been suggested, Martins Indi could be the perfect replacement.
