A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

The World Cup may be in full-swing but the transfer rumours are coming thick and fast in relation to Manchester United.

Reports in the last few hours have suggested United are about to spring something of a surprise, by announcing a deal for Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera.

The Spaniard was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford 12 months ago, but El Correro claims United are now willing to pay his €36million release-clause and that an announcement could be made imminently.

It would certainly be a curve-ball given how quiet it has been regarding Herrera recently, along with the fact the player has recently said he is happy in La Liga.

In other news, Spanish newspaper Marca claims United have joined the race to sign Espanyol and Mexico defender Hector Moreno.

The €10million-rated player is enjoying an outstanding World Cup, and his agent is said to be in talks with a number of clubs including Louis van Gaal’s side.

The Daily Star claims Inter Milan are prepared to pay £12million for Portuguese international Nani this summer.

The winger has long been linked with the Old Trafford exit, but with a new manager now in place he may be the next in line to attempt to get the best out of a frustrating but prodigiously gifted player.

And finally, the Daily Mail reports that new Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has raised Luke Shaw’s price tag from £30million to £40million.

That could signal the end of United’s interest, unless they really do mean business in terms of transforming their squad no matter the cost.
