All the latest summer transfer news from La Liga...
Real Madrid are being linked with a number of central midfielders this summer, but whilst their pursuit of the likes of Ramires, Toni Kroos and Arturo Vidal is lacking momentum, they are casting their net wide in the search of talent. The latest name to be linked with the club is Inter Milan's Croatian star Mateo Kovacic, who has featured alongside Real playmaker Luka Modric for Niko Kovac's men at the World Cup.
The 20-year-old barely featured in the first half of the season but proved his worth to manager Walter Mazzarri towards the end of the term. Liverpool have reportedly been watching Kovacic with a view to making a move this summer, and now Madrid have reportedly joined the race for the signature of the former Dinamo Zagreb man.
One of the biggest stories of the summer will be how La Liga champions Atletico Madrid will replace top goalscorer Diego Costa, who is expected to join Chelsea. Premier League strikers such as Loic Remy and Alvaro Negredo have already been linked with moves to the Spanish capital, but the latest rumours suggest that manager Diego Simeone will look to sign Swansea City's Michu.
The former Rayo Vallecano man had a sensational first season with the Swans, but his second season was disrupted by injuries, making any move from Atletico something of a risk.
Speculation yesterday suggested that Atletico were looking to sign Espanyol centre back Hector Moreno after the Mexican impressed at the World Cup. Now, it seems his displays have attracted interest from Premier League clubs, as Hull City, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been linked with moves to sign the 26-year-old. As Moreno continues to star in Brazil, interest will no doubt grow in his services.
