Chris Humphrey has reacted to Leeds supporters criticising his apparent decision to stay at Preston North End.
The winger was heavily linked with a move to Elland Road in recent times, but took to Twitter to say that he was ‘very happy at Preston’.
It left some sections of the Leeds support feeling frustrated at the 26-year-old for not wanting to take the step up to the Championship, but Humphrey was quick to laugh off their criticism.
The tweets that he put out to Leeds fans can be seen below:
2) Leeds legend says David Hockaday must be given time
Controversial new Leeds United head coach, David Hockaday, must be given time to impress, says Whites legend Eddie Gray.
The club have received much criticism from supporters after appointing Hockaday, a relative unknown, but Gray insists that they must get behind their new boss.
He wrote in the Yorkshire Evening Post: “Dave Hockaday has got his opportunity now at Leeds United and everybody has got to support him."
“Like a lot of people, I don’t know much about him, but he must have impressed Massimo Cellino because he’s hired him, so, hopefully, things will work out for him."
“You have got to be honest and say it was a bit of a surprise to see him appointed. But that does not mean to say he’s not going to be successful.”
3) Sheffield United back in for John Brayford
Blades are still in the hunt for Cardiff City defender John Brayford, according to the Sheffield Star.
Brayford was on loan at Bramall Lane last season, where he impressed, and Nigel Clough therefore took up interest in the defender earlier in the transfer-window.
However, Cardiff expressed a desire to retain the full-back initially, thinking he may have more of a chance in their first team following relegation to the Championship.
News today, though, is that Sheffield United have asked to be informed if the Bluebirds do change their mind on keeping Brayford, as they want to be notified first should he become available.
4) Danny Wilson looking to excite Barnsley fans
Barnsley manager Danny Wilson is looking to get Tykes supporters excited once again, after the side were relegated from the Championship last season.
Wilson says the club is now in a ‘new era’ and he hopes that the players he brings to Oakwell will impress the fans in the upcoming campaign.
“Hopefully the new players we sign will excite our supporters,” Wilson revealed to the Sheffield Star. “Hopefully they’re players who will put them on the edge of their seats."
“It was tough for our supporters last season, but it’s a new season and a new league and I hope they get right behind us like they did last year.”
5) Paul Dickov hits-back at Mark Duffy criticism
Former Doncaster Rovers midfielder Mark Duffy has come under criticism from Paul Dickov today, after he said that he was unfairly treated by the club last season.
Duffy’s contract at Doncaster was not extended at the end of the last campaign, where the club where relegated from the Championship, meaning he became a free-agent and he took to Twitter to express his distaste at Rovers’ treatment of him.
However, Dickov has hit-back at those claims, saying fans will not be disappointed to Duffy, who has now signed for Birmingham, leave.
“The Mark Duffy one, I don’t know because he’s not been in touch with anyone at the club,” Dickov revealed to the Sheffield Telegraph.
“I know Mark’s come out and said he was disappointed at the end of the season, but he was injured for most it. So I don’t quite know where that one’s come from."
“I know the fans will be disappointed about Chris Brown leaving. I don’t know so much about Duffy."
