Holland take on Chile in a game that has more than just bragging rights attached to it, despite both teams already progressing to the knockout stages of the World Cup.
A win or draw would see Holland go through top, in a scenario that could also allow them to avoid Brazil in the second round, while only a win will do for La Roja. Whatever the case, the game is set to serve up a series of dazzling displays from several players who could be heading to the Premier League very soon.
Mauricio Isla – Juventus
The 26-year-old made his name at Serie A side Udinese prior to his big money move to the Bianconeri in 2012 but despite Antonio Conte’s team enjoying a great spell of success domestically, Isla has struggled for game time and could use the World Cup to secure a move away.
Capable of playing on the right wing, at right full back or in central midfield, Liverpool and Arsenal are both rumoured to be keeping an eye out on the Chilean following a series of all-action displays for La Roja.
Joel Veltman - Ajax
The latest youth product off the Amsterdam-based conveyor belt, Veltman earned his place in Louis van Gaal’s Oranje squad following a breakthrough season in the Eredivisie, in which he established his place in the Ajax first team.
Though always expected to play a bit part role, having come on for the final 13 minutes of Holland’s 5-1 win over Spain, Veltman has nevertheless caught the eye of both Arsenal and Tottenham, one of whom could opt to move for the 22-year-old this summer.
Alexis Sanchez – Barcelona
A player who continues to be linked with any number of European clubs, Sanchez’s match-winning displays for Chile at this World Cup have only served to increase the hype and price tag surrounding the Nou Camp star ahead of any move.
That hasn’t put off the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool though, with the Premier League trio thought to be keen on striking a deal for the South American, who is also in the thoughts of Serie A giants Juventus.
Memphis Depay – PSV Eindhoven
Fresh from scoring Holland’s winner in the 3-2 victory over Australia, Depay also racked up 14 goals for PSV last term to earn his World Cup call up and having been on the books of the Eindhoven club for eight years, a move away from Holland could be in the offing.
Louis van Gaal could prove the decisive factor in a move with the new Manchester United man keen to pip one-time potential employers Tottenham to a £17 million deal with PSV for the 20-year-old midfielder.
Eduardo Vargas – Napoli
Signed by the Italian club for £11.5 million from Universidad de Chile back in 2012, Vargas has struggled to adapt to life in Serie A, having failed to score in 19 Serie A games for the Partenopei during his first two seasons.
Loan spells with Gremio and Valencia saw his form improve though and after impressing for Chile at the World Cup, scoring a well-taken opener against Spain last time out, a move to England could be in the offing, with the 24-year-old available for £9 million, according to fresh media reports.
