Arsenal youngster Joel Campbell has been enjoying an outstanding World Cup, playing a big part in Costa Rica’s surprise progress to the last-16 at the expense of England and either Italy or Uruguay.
It has already been confirmed that Campbell will return to the Emirates Stadium next season after spending time on loan in Spain and Greece.
But now his agent has been speaking exclusively to Italian website ultimecalcionapoli.it about his client and what the future may hold for him.
Campbell scored 11 goals for Olympiacos last season and set up a further 12, and while his agent Joaquim Batica confirmed he would be back with Arsenal next season, he refused to rule out a move elsewhere in the future.
On speculation that other top clubs were interested in Campbell, his agent said, “It is so. But the reality is that the player has a two-year contract with Arsenal; the directive we have from London right now is that after the World Cup he will return to England.”
However, Batica went on to reveal that the striker admired Serie A and that Fiorentina has shown an interest in the player in the past.
“Italy is a major championship,” he added. “In the future, Joel wants to achieve important goals, then never say never.”
For now Campbell will be focused on helping his country get as far as they can in Brazil. But thereafter he will hope to replicate his recent form in the red of Arsenal, meaning that hypothetical move to Italy - or anywhere else for that matter - remains just that.
