Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of Chris Brown who joins the club on a free transfer from Doncaster Rovers. The experienced striker will add depth to Blackburn's attacking options and hopefully provide able assistance for Jordan Rhodes.
The deal represents Gary Bowyer's first foray into the transfer market this summer, and fans will be hoping there is more to come after the side narrowly missed out on the play-offs last season.
“I’m delighted to be here,” said the 29-year-old. “As soon as I found out about the interest from Blackburn that’s where I wanted to go. It’s a massive club with genuine ambitions for promotion and that is something that I wanted to be a part of and I can’t wait to get started."
Fleetwood Town have agreed a new contract with highly-rated defender Conor McLaughlin. The full-back was one of their star players last season and it led to him being called up to the Northern Ireland squad and featuring in friendlies against Chile and Uruguay.
The 22-year-old was a regular for Graham Alexander's side last season and went on to win the Players' Player of the Year award. Unsurprisingly he had attracted some interest from other clubs, but The Cod Army have now tied him down until at least 2017.
Preston North End have also secured a new contract for a key player as Neil Kilkenny has put pen to paper on a new two year deal at Deepdale. The 28-year-old joined midway through last season from Bristol City initially on loan and then permanently following their decision to let him leave for free.
The Australian became an important part of the North End team making 32 appearances. Fans will be delighted to see him commit the next two years to the club.
This follows the news from the weekend that Andy Little had joined Simon Grayson's side following his release from Glasgow Rangers.
