€25m Manchester United linked midfielder denies deal to La Liga side is close

Manchester United linked Enzo Perez has spoken on his future, and denied a transfer away from Porto is imminent.

Enzo Perez may be at the World Cup with Argentina but cannot escape speculation over his future.

The Porto midfielder has been linked with Manchester United in recent weeks, reported by SkySports, but it was a La Liga side reported to be frontrunners.

According to the Spanish publication Superdeporte, Valencia had agreed a fee with Benfica for Perez at €25 million, with all that was missing being the player's signature.

At a press conference on Sunday however, Perez has immediately dismissed those reports.

He said: "There is nothing concrete with Valencia or (nor have I) signed anything.

"It said in the papers that I have done tests, but I do not I want to leave Benfica. When I finished at the World Cup I will sit and talk and (it) will depend on the two parties."

Perez is very sensibly keeping his eye on Argentina right now, while also pledging his future to his current club, which is wise for he will feel he does not need these distractions.

Manchester United appear to be off the pace in this particular race however. Perez scored five goals and provided seven assists for the Primeira Liga title winners last season.

Perez is yet to make his World Cup bow in 2014, but with Argentina winning their two opening games, he may be afforded an opportunity against Nigeria this coming week.
