Real Sociedad winger Antoine Griezmann has been speaking about his future, and that of former Arsenal star Carlos Vela today in an interview with ESPN Mexico.
The French international had a stunning campaign at the Anoeta last season - scoring 16 goals and assisting three in a superb campaign.
That has seen him linked with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco - while Arsenal are also said to be keen. Which takes Arsenal's apparent interest in Real Sociedad players to two.
They have been consistently linked with former star Carlos Vela in recent weeks. The Mexican was available at a cut price cost as The Gunners had a buy-back clause included in his contract with the San Sebastian club.
Considering he scored 17 goals and assisted 12 last term that was no surprise. They have now reportedly agreed to sell the buy-back clause to Sociedad for a fee in the region of €10 million - so Vela is not on his way back to The Emirates.
But what about Griezmann? Could Arsenal target him instead.
Not according to the player himself. After confirming his belief that Vela is as good as his French international team-mate Karim Benzema he also mentioned a wish to remain with the Basque club - and not leave for Arsenal or anybody else:
“I speak in Spanish to Carlos. He’s a top player. We understand each other very well on the field and off it, because we’re friends. Is he at the level of Karim Benzema? Yes, I think he is. He’s calm, he’s re-signed with La Real and he looks comfortable. I don’t know what my future holds. We’ll see. Hopefully I can stay. I’m going to wait.”
