Atletico Madrid duo Arda Turan and Filipe Luis were pictured together on their off-season vacations following their absence from this summer’s World Cup.
In Turan’s case, the Manchester United linked star returned home after his nation failed to qualify for the major tournament in Brazil.
It was a shame for the 27-year-old, as after such a fantastic season for Los Colchoneros, he also missed out on the Champions League final through injury.
Nevertheless, his performances over the season proved he is amongst the world’s best midfielders and he caught the attentions of Europe’s biggest clubs including Barcelona and Man United.
The Red Devils were reportedly keen to sign him last year, though they instead settled for Belgian international Marouanne Fellaini. Despite reigniting their interest this summer and allegedly making an offer, it appears the Turkish playmaker is set to stay in the Spanish capital.
As for Brazilian left-back Filipe Luis, his stay in Madrid looks all-but over as he reportedly edges closer to a move to Chelsea.
The Blues’ target was left out of Brazil’s World Cup squad, and in a bid to prove himself further, reports stated that the 28-year-old had turned down Atletico Madrid’s efforts to convince him to stay and instead accepted Chelsea’s proposal.
Talks between the clubs over the past few days have gone cold, but with the Stamford Bridge outfit said to be willing to match his £21 million release clause, his next destination after Turkey could well be West London.
