Is this the proof Arsenal linked Karim Benzema is now a complete forward?

Yet another stat proves just how effective reported Arsenal target and current Real Madrid star Karim Benzema is up front.

Arsenal have long been linked with a move for Karim Benzema, and when you consider the World Cup he is currently enjoying, that is no surprise.

The Real Madrid forward appears to have gone to Brazil as a man on a mission, to prove once and for all that he should be classed as one of the best strikers in world football.

There have been contrasting reports regarding his future in the Spanish capital, with the latest suggestion being that Real will offer the French international a new deal once he returns to domestic duties.

With a contract until the summer of 2015, there is sense that Real will either sell now or sign him up for the long term, with the risk of seeing him enter the last 12 months of his current deal one they are unlikely to take.

At 26, Benzema is arguably at the peak of his career, and his 24 goals and 16 assists for the Bernabeu side last season are testament to that.

But while he has continued scoring and providing after he swapped his club for his country, there is another stat that shows just why Real will be so keen to keep him and why the likes of Arsenal will dream of signing him.

Benzema has made eight key passes to date at the World Cup, a figure that is second only to Bosnia and Herzegovina's Miralem Pjanic who currently has 10.

Scoring is the bread-and-butter of a striker's role, while assisting is a very welcome addition, but Benzema creates far more than he is given credit for.  He may have set up two goals for France this summer, but he also laid on six additional goal-scoring chances that his teammates failed to convert.

In short, he is fast becoming one of the most complete front-men in the game, and Arsenal would be considerably better off with him in their team, in no small part due to his international partnership with Olivier Giroud.

But as the stats continue to come, highlighting just how good the Frenchman is, the less likely Real will part with him willingly.
