Manchester United defender Alex Buttner has agreed a three-year deal at Russian side Dynamo Moscow according to the club’s vice president.
The Dutch left-back has been heavily linked with an Old Trafford exit since hinting that Louis van Gaal’s arrival would see him move on. And now it appears his next destination has been confirmed.
Gennady Solovyov is quoted by Russian website Live Sport as saying, “I saw him yesterday. Buttner will play for Dynamo. Contract period, three years.”
The rumours of a move to Dynamo grew after Buttner and his brother were photographed in the Russian capital. And now a player who only signed for United in the summer of 2012 looks like moving on.
In his two seasons at Old Trafford, Buttner made just 28 appearances, scoring two goals and providing three assists in that time.
While he failed to move ahead of Patrice Evra at left-back he always played his best for the side and showed glimpses of the player Sir Alex Ferguson signed from Vitesse Arnhem for a reported £4million.
While no official announcement has yet been made regarding Buttner’s future, Solovyov’s quotes suggest his time at United is coming to an end. And with Evra only signed up for one more season, it would be no surprise if another new left-back arrived this summer, be that the oft-linked Luke Shaw or someone else entirely.
