Arsenal transfer news: Balotelli meeting, Ronaldo miss and £10m striker hunt

Loic Remy

All the latest transfer news and gossip from The Emirates this morning.

Arsene Wenger will reportedly meet with the agent of Mario Balotelli in Brazil this week. The Arsenal boss and Mino Raiola are said to be meeting up to discuss the future of the AC Milan striker as The Gunners are increasingly being linked with a move for the former Manchester City headline maker.

AC Milan are believed to be keen on a sale, to offset their own financial problems this summer, with a fee of £29 million being earmarked as the price it will cost to bring him back to the Premier League.

And it seems the striker hunt will not stop there. The club are also said to be looking into signing QPR striker Loic Remy. The Frenchman spent last season at Newcastle United on loan, where he was a big hit, but he now wants Champions League football.

He is said to have a release clause of around £10 million and is open to an Emirates switch.

News from yesterday now, and it is reported that Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Toulouse right-back Serge Aurier. The Ivorian, who is currently impressing on international duty with the Ivory Coast in Brazil, has been targeted as a potential Bacary Sagna replacement - after the Frenchman switched The Emirates for The Etihad and Manchester City this summer.

The club must now agree a fee with his French club to sign him on a five-year deal.

It is well known that Cristiano Ronaldo was also approached by Arsenal before Manchester United signed him - but it has been revealed today just how close that deal was to completion - as Ronaldo was actually in Wenger's office.

It is reported he was discussing a £12 million move to North London when Sir Alex Ferguson swooped in to bring him to Old Trafford.
