It is one thing to follow in the steps of your very successful brother, but having to do it in the shadow of two professional footballing siblings must be a nightmare. Welcome to the world of Kylian Hazard, the third of the family to make the grade as a football talent.
Kylian played at AFC Tubize in Belgium, just like his brothers Eden and Thorgan. When Eden Hazard was becoming a star at Lille, Thorgan joined rivals RC Lens while Kylian joined the youth academy at Lille.
The third of four Hazard brothers, Kylian could never quite break through at the French club and in 2013 he returned to Belgium to join White Star Bruxelles. The second division side finished 12th last season and Hazard only managed to play 92 minutes in four appearances, but Zulte-Waregem have obviously seen enough to bring him on board.
The move is being touted as a replacement for the outgoing transfer of his brother Thorgan, but both brothers are different in style.
Thorgan became a huge fan favourite while at Zulte-Waregem. In two seasons he played 71 games, scoring 19 goals, 14 of which came during his second season on loan.
During his time in Belgium, Thorgan developed as a winger and his direct style, power and pace, saw him become a great asset to Francky Dury’s side. Now with Thorgan’s future certain to continue away from Zulte-Waregem, the Belgian side are making plans for the new season.
Kylian may be more of a central midfielder, but for fans of Zulte, just the excitement of having another Hazard in their squad should be enough to cover the disappointment of seeing Thorgan move on.
Eden Hazard is quickly becoming Chelsea’s biggest star, and it looks like his brother Thorgan is finally reaching his potential. You can be assured that Chelsea will be monitoring the progress of the third Hazard brother, just in case there is another gem to be developed there.
And that's not all...11-year-old Ethan is said to be a talented player, too.
