Honduras player-ratings vs Ecuador - Wigan man solid again

Honduras Flag

Honduras lost their second successive game of the World Cup as Ecuador came from behind to win 2-1 in Curitiba. Here are the Honduras player-ratings:

Noel Valladares - 5 - The veteran goalkeeper was not as good as he was against France and only made two saves as La Bicolor failed to hold on to their lead.

Brayan Beckeles - 5 - The right-back tried to start some attacking moves but was poor defensively once again, and dallied at the back post to allow Enner Valencia to score his first goal.

Victor Bernardez - 6 - Far from convincing but recovered from a shaky start to look reasonably assured at the back.

Maynor Figueroa - 7 - Another solid display from the Hull City defender and he has was able to keep Felipe Caicedo quiet all night.

Emilio Izaguirre - 6 - Only lasted 45 minutes and the Celtic defender looked vulnerable at the back once again but is a threat going forwards.

Oscar Boniek Garcia - 6 - Made several good passes as he tried to start attacking moves but was unable to make enough of an impact on the game.

Luis Garrido - 5 - Was not good enough in the middle of the park and only made one tackle all night.

Jorge Claros - 6 - Filled in for Wilson Palacios and did a good job in breaking up the play but wasn't able to start enough attacking moves.

Roger Espinoza - 7 - The Wigan midfielder put a shift in once again and was involved in almost everything Honduras did going forward.

Jerry Bengtson - 6 - Led the line with Carlos Costly but couldn't put in the same performance and had two goals disallowed, one for handball just before halftime.

Carlos Costly - 8 - Scored Honduras's first World Cup goal for 32 years with an excellent finish and was lively all night.

Substitutes

Juan Carlos Garcia - 6 - Made some important tackles and dealt with Antonio Valencia well but didn't jump for the header which ultimately won the game.

Mario Martinez - 6 - Added some creativity to the side but still couldn't thread the right passes through in the final third.

Martin Chavez - 6 - Wasn't on the pitch for long enough to make a difference for his side.
