Ex-Manchester United flop: Luis Suarez would be a hit at Real Madrid

Uruguay striker Diego Forlan says that his compatriot and Liverpool star Luis Suarez would fit in well at Real Madrid.

Former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan believes that Liverpool striker Luis Suarez would be a hit at Real Madrid.

The Uruguayan scored twice to defeat England 2-1 at the World Cup on Thursday and his performance, despite not being 100% fit, will have had Madrid purring once more.

Los Blancos have been heavily linked with the Reds' striker over the past few months, with some reports in the Spanish capital strongly claiming that Suarez will move to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

Madrid president Florentino Perez is reportedly a keen admirer, and recent speculation has suggested that the club's directors would prefer Suarez to French international Karim Benzema.

When asked whether Suarez could play for the European champions, fellow countryman and former United striker Forlan stated that the 27-year-old is up there with the very best and would be a perfect fit at Madrid.

“He is one of the best. There are great strikers and you could name Luis in the same group, he is at the level of Messi, Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic.” He said, quoted by Spanish publication AS.

“Could he play alongside Ronaldo and Bale at Madrid? Sure, without doubt. He is one of the best, he is a player which has great physique and ability and he would fit in very well at Real Madrid.”

Forlan successfully made the transition from the Premier League to La Liga, as he starred for both Villarreal and Atletico Madrid after failing to make an impact at United.

There is little doubt that Suarez would be able to do the same. However, Liverpool have been pretty clear on their stance over their striker - he is not for sale.
