Confirmed: Germany line-up against Ghana - Mertesacker and Ozil start

Andre Schurrle & Mesut Ozil

Arsenal duo Per Mertesacker and Mesut Ozil start for Germany against Ghana, and so do reported Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool target Sami Khedira.

Germany will be looking to edge a step closer to qualification to the round of 16 at the 2014 World Cup finals with victory over Ghana tonight.

Joachim Low’s side will head into the clash at the Estadio Castelao in Fortaleza on the back of a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Portugal in their opening Group G match.

Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller was the star of the show in Salvador as he scored a hat-trick against a Cristiano Ronaldo-led Portugal team.

On the other hand, Ghana failed to pick up a single point in their opening match of the tournament, as they went down 2-1 to the USA at the Arena das Dunas in Natal.

The African giants fell behind as early as the first minute when Clint Dempsey put the Americans in the lead.

Ghana equalised through Andre Ayew on 82 minutes, but four minutes later John Anthony Brooks scored what proved to be the winning goal for the USA.

Black Stars coach Akwasi Appiah will hope for a better result tonight against a German side who will head into the contest as the favourites.
