News, views and rumours relating to Manchester United in the past 24 hours.

Manchester United stars Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck featured in England’s 2-1 defeat to Uruguay on Thursday night at the World Cup in Brazil.

Wayne Rooney scored England’s goal, his first ever goal at a World Cup finals.

Meanwhile midfielder Marouane Fellaini wants to stay at Old Trafford but admitted his debut season with the Red Devils under David Moyes was one to forget.

“Everybody knows my club season was one to forget. I’m the same Marouane. United signed me one year ago. There have been some positives and some negatives, like the bad injury I picked up. Also, our team didn’t quite click into place,” said the Belgium international.

"But now we have a new manager, we’ll see what happens next season. In the meantime, I am concentrating on my national team.”

"I don’t play here for a transfer. We’ll see with the new coach, but I still feel good at United," he added.

In transfer news, United remain linked with Chie midfielder Arturo Vidal. The midfielder's future at Juventus remains uncertain following his comments after Chile’s 2-0 victory over Spain, which knocked the defending champions out of the World Cup.

Liverpool are reportedly considering a ‘shock bid’ for Antonio Valencia this summer.

And finally, Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen has dismissed rumours he is in talks to join United.

"I understand that people are going to talk but I am here in Brazil and I am enjoying my time and I'm focused on what I am doing," said the Belgium defender.
