A recently recovered Luis Suarez showed just how deadly he is in no matter what condition. He bagged a sublime brace to guide Uruguay to a 2-1 win.
Fernando Muslera 8 - Had a really good game, couldn’t do much about the goal, but other than didn’t put a foot wrong.
Jose Maria Giménez 6 - Looked pretty nervy and made some rash challenges which gave England plenty of chances from set pieces.
Martin Cáceres 7 - Played quite well when he wasn’t fussing with his hair, partnered Godin well at the back.
Diego Godín 5 - Should’ve been sent off, two silly challenges and can count himself a lucky boy.
Alvaro Pereira 7 - Showed real dedication to the cause, even carrying on after he got knocked out, tough stuff.
Nicolas Lodeiro 6 - Didn’t seem to have much of an influence on the game and didn’t cover defensively allowing Baines access down the wing.
Alvaro Rafael González 6 - Partnered Rios well but didn’t help him in any particular way, often went missing.
Egidio Arévalo Rios 8 - Fabulous game from this man, played the central defensive midfield position perfectly. Helped his defence and eased his team out of any England pressure.
Cristian Rodríguez 6 - Provided help going forward but offered little when the team were under attack, didn’t contribute much.
Edinson Cavani 7 - Played his part and his ball for the Suarez goal was sublime.
Luis Suarez 9 - There are not many adjectives left to describe this man, but two fantastically taken goals gave Uruguay all three points.
