We bring you the latest news involving Newcastle and Sunderland.

We bring you all the biggest news involving the clubs in the North-East that has broken in the last 24 hours.

1) Newcastle in four-way battle for Danny Ings

Newcastle United face competition from Everton, Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg for Danny Ings, according to the Daily Mail.

Alan Pardew is desperate to add a striker to his squad ahead of the new season and is keen on Ings, who was in superb form for Burnley last season, but he will have to beat off competition from elsewhere if he is to land his man.

Burnley, too, will be keen to keep hold of Ings who is their marquee star and regarded as one of the finest young English prospects, meaning it will take a sizable fee to persuade the club to allow him to move.

2) Pierre-Michel Lasogga rejects Newcastle

Pierre-Michel Lasogga has rejected the chance of a move to Newcastle United, as his heart is set on a move to Hamburg.

The Hertha Berlin striker has been made available this summer for a fee of £7 million and Alan Pardew was hoping to bring him to St James’ Park, but he appears set to stay in Germany.

Lasogga spent last season on loan at Hamburg, scoring 13 goals for the club and he is now hoping to complete a permanent move to the Bundesliga outfit, reports in Germany suggest.

3) Alan Pardew admits Newcastle are struggling to sign a striker

Newcastle United’s search for a striker is set to continue for the time being, Alan Pardew has revealed.

The club have been looking to sign a centre-forward after seeing Shola Ameobi and Loic Remy both leave St James’ Park over the summer, but so far only the untested Ayoze Perez is the only player who can play in that position that has completed the move to Tyneside.

It has led to much annoyance for fans of the club, who are desperate to see Newcastle show some ambition in this transfer window, and Pardew is sharing their frustrations – citing the World Cup as a major reason why it is proving so difficult to find a centre forward.

We’ve got to cover some areas, particularly scoring goals,” Pardew said to the Shields Gazette.

“A lot of clubs and agents are waiting to see how players fare in the World Cup.

“That will have an influence on the price.

“The World Cup is critical to a number of clubs, including us.”

4) Sunderland given Fabio Borini boost.

Sunderland’s hopes of signing Fabio Borini have been boosted today, with the news that Liverpool could be set to sell the Italian.

Borini spent last season on loan at the Stadium Of Light and was a major success, meaning that Gus Poyet was keen to bring the attacker back this summer.

Liverpool initially appeared to be reluctant to let the 23-year-old leave Anfield, but reports today seem to suggest he could be allowed to leave Merseyside as the club look to raise funds for a summer spending spree.

If the reports are true Sunderland will almost certainly rekindle their interest in the player, who scored seven goals for them last campaign, as Poyet looks to strengthen his side for the upcoming season.

5) Everton join the race for Ever Banega

Sunderland target Ever Banega could be off to Everton, after Roberto Martinez’s side reportedly launched a bid to sign him for Valencia.

Banega was thought to be on Gus Poyet’s wish-list this summer, but it appears that he may end up at Goodison Park instead.

The Toffees will not have it easy, though, as AC Milan and Marseille are both eyeing up moves for the central-midfielder.
