Chelsea fans react to £32m Costa's performance v Chile - 'Spain's Jozy Altidore'

Chelsea Fans

Diego Costa was not great against Chile yesterday - worrying a selection of Chelsea fans that they have a another dud on their hands.

Spain are out of the World Cup after a 2-0 defeat to Chile followed up their 5-1 thrashing at the hands of The Netherlands in Brazil. They put in yet another abject display yesterday as the South American outfit booked their place in the next round with a comfortable victory.

It seems as though, after six years of trying, teams have found the antidote to Spain's 'tiki-taka' brand - but that cannot be the only reason why Spain were so lacklustre in Brazil.

The camp seem unhappy for starters, the body language was England-like at times from the Spanish squad. Then there is the demise of their goalkeeper. Iker Casillas has lost his place at Real Madrid and been woeful at this tournament. He is also the captain and once your leader falls others will tumble with him.

Xabi Alonso, Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba, David Silva - it just didn't click this time around and Spain will be on a much earlier than anticipated plane home.

But yesterday, perhaps the most abject performance of all came from a Chelsea bound striker. Diego Costa, who today admitted he was practically on his way to Stamford Bridge in a £32 million move, was poor against Chile - as he was for most of The Netherlands tie.

The Atletico Madrid striker is clearly not at 100% after his end of season leg muscle injury and his selection seems a costly one from Vicente del Bodque.

He was poor throughout the game yesterday, to the point he was substituted for a current Chelsea flop - £50 million striker Fernando Torres.

As for Chelsea fans they were a mixture of sympathetic and anxious about the Costa performance v Chile.

Just a quick reminder before I share these Tweets with you. Costa scored 35 goals in 45 appearances for Atletico Madrid this season.
