Project Morpheus

Unity games creators will be able to develop for Sony’s VR headset in the near future.

Unity have recently announced the arrival of Unity 4.3 for PlayStation 4 allowing Unity developers to register with Sony and publish games on PSN. Already optimised to allow for integration with DUALSHOCK 4 controllers and PlayStation motion and camera peripherals, Unity have also confirmed that support for Sony’s Virtual Reality visor, Project Morpheus will be coming sometime soon.

The Unity engine has already proved popular with developers working to integrate Oculus Rift with their games on PC, Mac and Linux and stands to join Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4 as an early engine to support Project Morpheus.

With over 2 million registered Unity developers worldwide Sony could stand to benefit from an influx of independently developed games bringing Virtual Reality experiences to their powerhouse console.
