The Premier League 2014/15 fixtures have been released today. Manchester United kick-off their campaign against Swansea City at Old Trafford on the opening day.

At the World Cup in Brazil, Marouane Fellaini scored for Belgium on Tuesday in their victory over Algeria, leading his national teammate Jan Vertonghen to assert that United do not know how to use the midfielder who signed last summer under David Moyes.

“We know how to use him and I don't know whether they do in his other team,” said the Spurs defender.

Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany echoed his statement: “You have to grant players a couple of seasons before you can judge someone. For us, with Belgium, he has been doing it time and time again.”

Striker Robin van Persie scored for Netherlands this evening as Louis van Gaal's Dutch side clinched a vital 3-2 victory over Australia.

In transfer news, Netherlands playmaker Wesley Sneijder has admitted joining Louis van Gaal at United would be hard to resist.

“If Van Gaal were to make me an offer, I would have to at least consider it. Nobody from the Netherlands can simply reject Van Gaal,” said the Galatasaray midfielder.

Meanwhile, Alexander Buttner is ready to quit United following Louis van Gaal’s arrival at Old Trafford. The Dutch fullback insisted staying at United was ‘never an option’ and revealed he intends to join Dinamo Moscow.

“Van Gaal never gave me the chance in the Dutch national team, despite being voted man of the match 14 times at Manchester United,” stated the 25-year-old.

“Apparently, he is not very confident about me. So I think this is the right moment to leave. “Dinamo Moscow have big plans. Staying at Manchester United was never an option this summer,” said Buttner’s agent Alexander Bursac.

United are linked with Nicolas Gaitan who could be part of a swap deal taking Bebe to Benfica according to The Mirror.

The Red Devils remain linked with Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen, whom the Daily Mail’s Martin Samuel suggests is just ‘another gamble’ for United who could make a £12 million move for the Belgian international.
