Tottenham latest, club launches shock bid for O'Shea, Adebayor on his way?

A selection of the latest transfer news and more involving Tottenham Hotspur this Wednesday evening.

Tottenham have launched a shock bid for former Manchester United defender John O'Shea according to the Daily Telegraph.

The report says that captain Michael Dawson is free to leave the club, and that Spurs will bid £3 million for the Sunderland centre-back. The versatility of O'Shea is said to be attractive to Spurs as he can operate on both flanks.

Also said to be under consideration is Chelsea left-back Ryan Bertrand along with former defender Steven Caulker from Cardiff City. Roberto Soldado could also be sold this summer after a disappointing first season in order to finance a move for Romelu Lukaku.

However, the Daily Express is reporting that Emmanuel Adebayor could be sold in order to finance a £32 million deal for the Belgian and Chelsea forward.

Despite reports in the London Evening Standard not so long ago that Mauricio Pochettino would like to build the side around Adebayor, the Express says that the Spurs Head Coach is in favour of offloading such a big burden from the wage bill, and remodelling the side around younger players.

The Express is also reporting that Spurs will try and offer Soldado along with Etienne Capoue in order to try and bring Sevilla's Alberto Moreno to White Hart Lane. Moreno has been a well documented target of Liverpool.

The fixtures for the new Premier League season have been announced, and Spurs will travel to West Ham United on the opening day of the season - the weekend of August 16/17.

The first North London derby of the season takes place on September 27 at the Emirates Stadium with the return game at White Hart Lane on February 7. Spurs conclude the season with a visit to Goodison Park to take on Everton on May 24.
