Manchester United want Shaw and Blind

The Mirror write that Manchester United could sign two left-backs despite renewing Patrice Evra's contract. The paper claim United are still in with a chance of signing Luke Shaw from Southampton, with their £30 million offer still standing. Now Ronald Koeman has been appointed as manager of the Saints they hope it will progress.

The paper claim that if successful in signing Shaw, United will continue their £12 million pursuit of Dutch international Daley Blind regardless. This is because despite his success at left-back early in the World Cup, Blind excelled last season for Ajax when converted from full-back to central midfield, and was compared with Philip Lahm at Bayern Munich.

West Ham close on Kouyate

The Mail report that West Ham are close to completing a deal for defender Cheikou Kouyate. The Anderlecht centre-back has completed a medical and agreed terms on a £7 million deal.

Senegalese international Kouyate had previously been linked with Arsenal, and can also play in midfield.

Newcastle want German striker

Newcastle are in talks to sign Hertha Berlin's Pierre-Michel Lassoga, report The Mirror. Lassogga spent last season on loan at Hamburg with great success, and was even tipped to make the German World Cup squad.

The striker, 22, netted 13 goals in 20 games, and the paper claim Newcastle want to pay £7 million for his services.

Lassogga struggled with injuries early in his career and last season was a breakthrough one for him, but he has pedigree as a German under-21 international.
