Brazil 0-0 Mexico: Chelsea midfielder can’t prevent draw

Chelsea midfielder Oscar couldn’t provide enough spark for his side to overcome a brave Mexico.

In what was an entertaining 0-0 draw, Mexico certainly didn't lie back and played more than a brave game. Brazil looked the favourites going into this game and on the back of the 3-1 win over Croatia, everyone expected them to move up a gear.

The game certainly wasn’t short of chances but there were no real clear cut opportunities either, partly due to Brazil and Mexico’s defence shutting down all opportunities. Having said that, Brazil could’ve scored through decent attempts on goal, but Ochoa was absolutely superb in goal. On one occasion Neymar rose brilliantly to head the ball towards goal but Ochoa flew across his goal to claw it out.

Mexico played a tactically good game and even had their fare share of chances too, but both Silva and Cesar were there to stop them. They will pleased to have frustrated Brazil and get a point out of the game.

Both teams are now on 4 points and are in the running to qualify, but may feel a bit nervous entering their final games.
