Arsenal players have shown a particular affinity for taking ‘selfies’ in recent times, none more infamous than Wojciech Szczesny’s victory snap at White Hart Lane in March.
Lukas Podolski made his way into that particular picture alongside the Polish goalkeeper but now has come up with one of his own that’s sure to garner plenty of attention.
Days ago the 29-year-old said he’d look to get a dressing room photo with German Chancellor Angela Merkel after his country’s Group G curtain-raiser with Portugal.
And the charismatic forward delivered in the aftermath of a rousing 4-0 victory for Die Mannschaft in Salvador - posting a celebratory ‘selfie’ with the German head of state on his Facebook page.
Podolski came off the bench in the final 10 minutes of the win, with club team-mates Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker starting as Thomas Muller bagged a hat-trick.
Merkel was no doubt pleased to watch Germany get off to a quick start in style in a tough group, with Podolski and company set to take on Ghana next on Saturday.
