Arsenal transfer news: Monreal bound for La Liga? Liverpool to swoop for Richards

A round up of transfer stories this morning about Arsenal.

The Daily Mail claims Atletico Madrid are considering a swoop for Arsenal left-back Nacho Monreal.

Monreal is likely to start next season behind Kieran Gibbs in the pecking order if he stays at the Emirates Stadium.

Atletico reportedly want him as a replacement for Chelsea bound defender Filipe Luis.

The Daily Star has reported that Liverpool are about to move on a bid for Manchester City defender Micah Richards.

Richards is a player who has been linked with coming into the right-back slot at Arsenal following Bacary Sagna’s decision to leave.

The move could prompt Arsenal to react with an offer of their own, giving Richards a choice between the two clubs.

Former Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas has spoken over recent reports linking him with a return to the club.

Fabregas has confirmed that he considered the possibility of going back to the club but revealed why Arsene Wenger decided against the move.

“Arsenal was the first option, for contractual reasons. There was a clause that gave them the right to decide. We spoke to Wenger and he said that the space was very well filled by Mesut Ozil and it was hard to find a place for both of us in the team,” he explained in the Guardian.
