Manchester United transfer news: United knocked back over Shaw as LVG considers Dutch replacement

A round up of transfer stories about Manchester United this morning.

Manchester United have been handed a setback with the news that an offer for Luke Shaw has been rejected.

United have been widely reported as interested in the teenage defender, as a long term replacement for Patrice Evra.

However, they will now have to up a £27 million offer to land the player as the Saints fight to keep hold of their talented starlet.

A potential alternative is Ajax defender Daley Bind who is a favourite of Louis van Gaal in the Netherlands national side.

Blind is valued at around the £12 million mark and could represent better value for United should they go after a deal.

He secured two assists in the Netherlands’ opening World Cup game against the Spanish.

Manchester United continue to be linked with a move for Arsenal centre-back Thomas Vermaelen.

The Belgian defender’s future is reportedly up in the air after he failed to break up the partnership of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny last season.

However, Serie A giants Napoli are also thought to be interested in making a move for the Arsenal skipper.
