France get their World Cup campaign underway tonight, as they meet Honduras in Porto Alegre for their first Group E match.
Having watched Switzerland grab a last gasp winner against Ecuador in Brasilia, France will be looking to earn a convincing win which would take them straight to the top of the group. Didier Deschamps' men have barely been mentioned in the discussion of potential World Cup winners, but they have some promising talents who could flourish in Brazil.
The usual faces of Bacary Sagna, Laurent Koscielny, Patrice Evra and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris are joined by Paul Pogba, Raphael Varane and Antoine Griezmann in the starting line-up, whilst other youngsters such as Eliaquim Mangala and Lucas Digne could also impress if given the chance.
They come up against a Honduras side who have already earned a reputation for being a physical team after last weekend's 0-0 draw with England in Miami. With familiar faces like Emilio Izaguirre, Maynor Figueroa and Wilson Palacios, Honduras have plenty of experience but are unlikely to be able to pose too many threats to the French defence.
A point would be excellent for Honduras, but with France looking to prove their doubters wrong, Deschamps' side will be hot favourites.
