Juventus set sights on Liverpool target Xherdan Shaqiri

According to Italian daily TuttoSport The Old Lady has turned its attention to the Bayern Munich player in their quest for a winger.

Juventus manager Anonio Conte is on the lookout for a new wideman after links to Barcelona's Alexis Sanchez and Shaqiri is seen as a possible alternative should that avenue not prove fruitful.

According to InsideFutbol, who quote the usally reliable TuttoSport, the report states that  'Juventus are showing serious interest in Xherdan Shaqiri and will monitor him closely at the World Cup.'

'There has already been contact between Juventus and Shaqiri's camp, with the reaction positive from the player.'

Liverpool have been in talks with Bayern over Shaqiri of late but the longer they take the more it gives other teams the opportunity to come in and make a bid.

Munich for their part will know that if the 22-year-old excels at the World Cup for Switzerland then his value will soar so in effect they have more to gain from any protracted negotiations with the Liverpool.

Much of the former FC Basel youth product's appeal is the fact that he can play not only out wide but as a number 10. Brendan Rodgers is keen on this versatility and no doubt Conte is too.

Although Shaqiri is a very talented player with everything still ahead of him his time in Germany has not been what he would have hoped for.

Pep Guardiola has not really given him the chance to shine so whichever club manages to secure his signature will have a player who is hungry to perform and realise his awsome potential.
