Three Argentinians Pochettino could look to bring to Spurs

Could Tottenham be looking to add more South American talent to the squad?

The last couple of weeks has seen an upsurge in the number of Argentinians linked, surely fired by the fact Tottenham now have an Argentinian manager, and ex international to boot.

Already tasked with getting the best out of his countryman Erik Lamela, Pochettino has seen Spurs linked with the likes of Inter Milan attacking midfielder Ricardo Alvarez and Valencia playmaker Ever Banega.

Mauricio Pochettino has been known to favour his countrymen, signing Argentinian born Dani Osvaldo at Espanyol before he had turned out for Italy. He again brought Oslvaldo to the club he was in charge of at Southampton, and with few teams in the Premier League having as rich a connection with Argentinians as Tottenham, we look at three other players he may consider bringing to the Lane.

Marcos Rojo

The Sporting Lisbon defender has been well linked to Liverpool in recent months, and his ability to play both central defence and left back would make him a versatile, yet outstanding addition to the Spurs team. Rojo features on the left for the national team, yet managed to help Sporting to second place in the Portuguese division this year occupying a central position.

Nicolas Gaitan

Already linked to White Hart Lane, Pochettino may decide to firm up his interest in the Benfica player should he decide that he wants a specialised left winger in his team. Gaitan played from the left for much of last season as Benfica won the league and reached the Europa League final. He is skilful and quick, and could form part of a new look pair of Argentine widemen alongside Lamela.

Mauro Iccardi

The young forward has only just moved to Inter Milan on a permanent deal, after a decent loan spell last season was followed by the Italian giants buying up the rest of his ownership from Sampdoria. That doesn't mean much in Serie A though, in fact it makes potential negotiations that much easier. Nine goals in twenty-two appearances indicate he has some genuine talent, though Spurs may have to cough up the cash to secure the 21-year-old striker.
