How many of the Premier League stars will feature in the Group D encounter in Fortaleza?

Uruguay will be determined to kick off their 2014 World Cup campaign with victory over Costa Rica at Estadio Castelao in Fortaleza tonight.

La Celeste reached the semi-finals of football’s biggest competition in South Africa four years ago and will fancy their chances of going a step further this time around.

However, Oscar Tabarez’s side will not find that easy as they have been drawn against England, Italy and Costa Rica in Group D. This is one of the toughest groups and every goal would matter.

The last time Uruguay won the World Cup, it was Brazil who hosted the event. However, for history to repeat itself, the South Americans will need to improve on their performances in the qualifying campaign.

Uruguay struggled during the qualifiers and booked their place in Brazil only after a play-off victory over Jordan. However, four years ago, they needed a play-off as well – defeating tonight’s opponents over two legs.

Costa Rica are said to be Group D’s whipping boys, but they could well spring up a surprise or two. Head coach Jorge Luis Pinto lost four of his key players to injuries before he could finalise the 23-man World Cup squad, including Everton's Bryan Oviedo and Alvaro Saborio, but his team still remain capable of doing damage to the opposition.

Here is how Uruguay and Costa Rica will line up tonight:

Uruguay XI: Muslera, Pereira, Lugano, Godin, Caceres, Gargano, Rodriguez, Arevalo, Stuani, Forlan, Cavani

Costa Rica XI: Navas, Gonzalez, Umana, Borges, Duarte, Bolanos, Diaz, Gamboa, Tejeda, Ruiz, Campbell
