Barcelona put price-tag on United and Liverpool target - how much?

Surplus to requirements midfielder will cost Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal target £20m, according to the latest transfer news.

One Barcelona player, who started just 12 La Liga matches last term but returned a 92% passing accuracy from midfield, is potentially available for £20 million, according to a report in MARCA.

That player, previously linked to Manchester United and Liverpool (although the latter have only recently confirmed the purchase of the positionally-similar Emre Can), has a wealth of Premier League experience, a Champions League runners-up medal and 47 international caps - and counting.

He is Alex Song.

The report stats that "Barcelona are looking to sell [Song] above all in the Premier League, where, given his past with Arsenal, there is a greater chance of finding him a buyer."

A price-tag of £20 million has been placed on his head, with United perhaps needing a player of his ilk to revamp their midfield while also providing competition for places in central defence.

MARCA note that, thus far, there have been no offers for Song, which perhaps gives credence to a Daily Mail article published earlier this morning that indicates the Cameroonian - currently in Brazil on World Cup duty - has been offered to United.Barcelona bought Song from Arsenal for approximately £15 million two seasons ago, leaving them with a £5 million profit should they receive the full amount they are demanding.
