Much of the attention from last night's thumping win by The Netherlands against Holland revolved around the performances of Robin van Persie and Arjen Robben - and rightly so, they were stunning.
But not much was said about one of the two Aston Villa players at the World Cup - Ron Vlaar.
The 29-year-old central defender was a pillar at the heart of the Dutch defence - holding together the three man centre back combination with ease. His presence was the perfect decision from Louis van Gaal - his experience kept the youngsters Bruno Martins Indi and Stefan De Vrij focused.
It was a performance, with all due respect, you would not expect from a player who was at a struggling Aston Villa side last term.
But Vlaar has 24 caps for the Dutch and is a regular under Louis van Gaal - so we should not be surprised.
He is certainly a player who should be playing for a more competitive club team. What about Manchester United?
Van Gaal knows him and United desperately need two new central defenders.
It was a notion featured on the site recently, an idea many a United fan found laughable.
But the fact is that last night he pocketed Diego Costa, a player Chelsea are set to spend £32 million on. He is into the final year of his contract at Villa and with the ownership trouble at Villa Park his sale could be good business for the club.
Vlaar may not be the 'sexy' United defensive target, he may not be a target at all, but last night he proved he can mix it with the very best - something United should consider.
