West Bromwich Albion have officially announced that the club have rejected a formal transfer request from wantaway midfielder George Thorne as they reiterate their intention to keep the starlet on board.
Two weeks ago, the 21-year-old claimed that his heart was no longer at West Bromwich Albion and he was extremely keen on making the move to Derby County permanently this summer.
"Anyone who knows me will tell you that, compared to how I have been, I'm much happier now,' said Thorne. "I felt at home at Derby, I felt wanted at Derby, which I certainly didn't at West Brom. I felt like a squad player at West Brom and most times not even that. I've never really had a sustained spell or chance and enough's enough.
"On my mind now is playing football and Derby is a very good option for me."
Thorne, who was part of the starting eleven in the play-off final, is an incredibly popular player at the iPro and many fans have claimed that signing the midfielder is absolutely vital to their promotion push next season. The Rams went on to win eight out of the 11 games he played in last season, which proves just how influential he was for the East Midlands side.
Nevertheless, West Brom are resistant to selling one of their best prospects especially one tied down on a long contract, but taking into account the new transfer request and the anger it has caused amongst the fans, it seems unlikely the player will still be at the Hawthorn's next season.
