Carlo Ancelotti wants to recruit an impact player, according to MARCA.
That player will likely be Antoine Griezmann, the Real Sociedad winger coveted by Arsenal over the last 12 months, who excelled at the Anoeta Stadium by returning 16 goals and three assists from 31 stars in La Liga.
While there is an obvious French link that Arsene Wenger can tap into should he ever enter into contractual negotiations with the 23-year-old, the lure of remaining in Spain and linking up with the Champions League holders may prove tempting for a player already finding his feet in that country.
Valued at £25 million by transfermarkt.co.uk, Griezmann is extremely skilled when the ball is at his feet, is hard to dispossess, is an accomplished striker of the football and is always a goal-threat.
Should Wenger miss out on acquiring Griezmann, though, it may not all be bad news for the Gunners as his signature at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu would free up super-sub Alvaro Morata.
MARCA claim that Griezmann, a youngster with "a golden left foot" could be developed into a number nine and a player capable of providing a "quality alternative to the BBC [Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo] when they aren't available.
