A Manchester United focused midnight transfer round-up.
18 days to go until the Transfer Window opens. On the day Cesc Fabregas has clinched his deal to Chelsea, and the World Cup kicked off, here's a Manchester United focused look at what else is going on?
Bastian Schweinsteiger top target
Who needs Fabregas when you can get... Schweinsteiger?
The Independent report that the German international is Manchester United's top midfield target, and the club are preparing to submit a £25 million offer to Bayern Munich.
Schweinsteiger, 29, claims he is still in the best shape of his life despite injury issues this past season, but is believed by Pep Guardiola to be the least suited of his midfielders to his tiki-taka style.
The German has experience playing under Louis van Gaal at Bayern Munich, enjoying great success, and being reunited with the Netherlands World Cup boss at United would clearly be tempting for the player.
The paper report that Van Gaal wants United to 'act rapidly' to secure a deal.
Manchester United warned over Miranda
24 hours after it was reported that Manchester United wanted to pay less than the €30m release clause for Miranda, Atletico Madrid have talked down the possibility.
Spanish paper El Confidencial claimed United were unwilling to meet the clause and wanted to negotiate.
Atletico Madrid are not willing to do business on those terms however.
AS report club president Gil Marin as saying: "This year we need to sell and do not want to leave anyone.
"If you want to go, (clubs) will be paying the clause."
