Real Madrid have been forced to drop their interest in Liverpool’s Luis Suarez, and will now look elsewhere.
Real Madrid are ready to drop their interest in Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and pursue a new target, according to a report in the Daily Express.
The 23-year-old is thought to be on Arsene Wenger’s wish-list this summer as he seeks to add quality back-up for striker Olivier Giroud.
Griezmann is currently on duty with France at the World Cup, so any deal for the forward would likely have to wait until the tournament is over in Brazil.
With Real Madrid better placed than the Gunners financially to land Griezmann, Arsenal will still be hoping they can lure Alvaro Morata from the Bernabéu, after manager Carlo Ancelotti revealed the club have allowed him to leave this summer.
Madrid have reportedly asked for a fee of arounf £24million for Morrata, or up to £10million less should the buying club include a buy-back clause for the Spaniard.
But a deal for Griezmann could prove the better value, with the Frenchman having netted 20 times last season as Sociedad finished seventh in La Liga. The youngster has also declared his interest in moving to a big club, with Paris Saint-Germain too having been linked with the star.
"I am ambitious, and if I leave, it will only be for a big European club,” Griezmann was reported to have said.
"PSG are a great club that are doing something beautiful.
"I don't prefer one team over another, but PSG is a destination that has attracted more than one player in the past."
Although a move back to his native France would seemingly appeal to Griezmann, linking up with Karim Benzema at Madrid would also more than likely interest the striker. Madrid, along with PSG, as two of Europe’s big-hitters both on and off the pitch, would likely ruin any Arsenal bid should they approach Sociedad for the promising forward.
