Tottenham latest, club interested in ex-Arsenal man, Sandro in swap deal?

A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Friday evening.

Tottenham are said to be targeting former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song, who is currently at Barcelona.

TalkSport has picked up on a report from Marca which suggests that they are looking to offload Song to the Premier League in order to get the biggest fee.

Manchester United are also said to be interested in the midfielder who signed for Barcelona for £15 million back in 2012, but the La Liga giants are said to be after £20 million.

Spurs have missed out on Paris Saint-Germain winger Jeremy Menez who has joined AC Milan.

TalkSport have reported that Spurs were chasing the winger, but he opted to join Milan in order to try and challenge for the Serie A title.

Menez said: "Why did I choose AC Milan? Because it is a great team and a great club.

"I chose Milan because they are still Milan. They may have gone through some trouble last year, but we hope to become great again and win something important."

The Metro reported yesterday that Tottenham were in the market for Argentine midfielder Ricardo Alvarez, but the Daily Express are reporting that Spurs could ask Inter Milan for a swap deal in exchange for their midfielder Sandro.

The Brazilian midfielder has been linked with a move away for a while, with Napoli also interested in the midfielder.

Finally, away from transfers, former Tottenham midfielder David Bentley has retired from football after saying he's fallen out of love with the game.

Bentley signed for Spurs for £15 million in 2008, and the 29-year-old has decided to hang up his boots.

He told Sky Sports: "I've given up football. It's over a year since I played my last game and I've taken the decision to take my life in a different direction. I felt like it was time to call it a day.

"I've just fallen out of love with the game. I had a bit of a difficult time at Tottenham and it's just one of them things. It's probably a little bit early but it's where I am at now.
