Chelsea transfer news: Cesc upsets Tony Adams, Khedira latest & more

Chelsea

All the latest Chelsea transfer news and rumours from Stamford Bridge including former Barcelona and Arsenal star's move, Real Madrid target and David Luiz.

When it comes to Chelsea, the column inches have today been dedicated to two Blues - Oscar, due to his terrific performance for Brazil against Croatia last night in the introductory match of the FIFA World Cup tournament (Twitter fan reaction here) and Cesc Fabregas, who completed his transfer from Barcelona to Chelsea and will link up with his new Stamford Bridge team-mates after the completion of his international responsibilities with Spain.

Fabregas' former team-mate Xavi said the move was "great news for Cesc" but "a big loss for Barcelona."

Is pass master Xavi right? In this HITC: Sport analysis, Fabregas's statistics are compared to the man Arsene Wenger may have decided was sufficient enough to not warrant Cesc at Emirates Stadium - Mesut Ozil - and another man manager Jose Mourinho sold earlier in the year, Juan Mata, now at Manchester United.

One many unhappy at the Cesc switch is former Gunners captain Tony Adams: "Maybe Wenger thought we didn't need that type of player. It saddened me because he was Arsenal captain and it's a shame he's not coming back."

Ex Barca star Ronald de Boer believes the move will reignite the player's career: "He didn’t really find his form and his freedom [in Spain]. If you saw him play at Arsenal, he was a player you felt was really happy on the pitch. With Barcelona he couldn’t really find his way. That can happen.

"In a team you have 11 players and sometimes the magic is not there. With the change he can find his brilliance back. For me, he is an outstanding player and the Premier League should be happy that he is back."

There is also further development on the Sami Khedira story as, once again, Chelsea are linked with a return to Spain for transfer business, albeit with Mourinho's former club Real Madrid rather than Barcelona. However, in order to procure the midfielder, Ramires would have to go the other way.

And finally, one of football's worst kept secrets this summer, David Luiz's move from Chelsea to PSG has been signed, sealed, delivered - he's yours!
